“Honesty is the best policy” is a motto believed by most people and should apply to their lives, despite the temptations around them. Some people can’t resist their urge to own something valuable even it is not their own belongings.
Many Filipinos have already shown their act of honesty toward others through their actions. Returning lost valuables and cash can be a little bit harder to do, due to temptation. But it takes courage and perseverance in order to do it.
A 60-year-old man in Valladolid shows an act of honesty by returning a lost plastic envelope containing pink power bank with charger, eye gl(–foul word(s) removed–), jewelry, Samsung tablet, and cast amounting P10, 620. He found the pouch along the National Highway.
He returned the lost envelope on Thursday (February 09, 2017) at the Valladolid police station. The senior citizen was identified as Mr. Diego Valenzuela Y. Hontelallo, a resident of Brgy. Tabao, Valladolid. The Municipality of Valladolid is now very proud and admiring the senior citizen for his act of honesty.
The photo of Mr. Diego has been posted by Valladolid Pnp in the social media with a hashtag “#DAPAT TULARAN” (A Good Example). His photos have garnered 1.4k reactions, 291 shares, and 207 comments as of this post.
His photo also receives positive feedback, admiration, words of encouragement, and praises because of his honesty. Nowadays we can rarely see an honest person like Tatay Diego, his good personality and attitude should be really an example for all Filipinos.
