Not 50-50: Kylie Padilla Breaks Silence on Aljur’s 20% Contribution to Parenting
KYLIE PADILLA – What does co-parenting really look like for Kylie Padilla and Aljur Abrenica? According to the actress, it’s an 80-20 setup—with Aljur handling only 20%.
Kapuso actress Kylie Padilla openly discussed her current co-parenting arrangement with estranged husband Aljur Abrenica, sharing how responsibilities are divided between them in raising their children. The topic was brought up in a recent episode of the show “Your Honor,” where the meaning and real-life practice of co-parenting became the focus of the discussion.
During the exchange, “Your Honor” host Chariz Solomon shared her view on what co-parenting should be, stating, “Co-parenting, sa pagkakaintindi ko, 100-100 [ang bigayan]. Hindi hati. Give your best, I give my best. You be a parent—physically, mentally, emotinally, lahat ng ‘ly’.”

Kylie then related the concept to her own situation by asking, “E, pa’no kung 80% ikaw ‘yong parent?” She followed this by saying, “Ako ‘yong 80%, siya 20 lang.”
She went on to explain further, saying, “Co-parenting pa rin kami, what I mean to say is, sa akin ‘yong kids 80% of the time. Pero financial, 80% ako rin. So co-parenting pa rin naman ‘yon.” Her remarks emphasised that although co-parenting is often viewed as an equal partnership, actual setups can vary widely based on personal circumstances.
In August 2023, Aljur became the subject of online criticism after claims circulated that he had chosen to spend time with his partner, AJ Raval, instead of attending his child’s birthday celebration. The controversy quickly drew negative reactions from netizens and once again placed their family situation under public attention.
More recently, relations among Kylie, Aljur, and AJ appear to have improved. Kylie shared in a recent post that she felt relieved and happy that she no longer needed to hide two people, pointing to a calmer and more open phase. This followed AJ’s admission on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” that she and Aljur already have three children together.

The separation of Kylie and Aljur in July 2021 previously shocked the entertainment industry. Rumours of a third party later emerged after Aljur and AJ were spotted holding hands at a mall. Kylie later addressed the issue, making it clear that AJ was not responsible for the end of her marriage, amid heavy criticism and accusations branding the Vivamax actress as a “kabit” and “third party.”
