On Wednesday morning (October 15, 2025), a concerned parent raised alarm online after cracks were seen in the second-floor classroom of the New Administrative Building at Iloilo Doctors’ College following a magnitude 4.2 earthquake that shook Guimbal, Iloilo.

The post quickly drew attention and garnered discussions about school safety during and after natural disasters.

In a separate post, Alumbro clarified that she only wanted to raise awareness and ensure the safety of her child and other students. She explained that her intention was not to criticize the school but to remind authorities to take necessary precautions, especially after an earthquake.

Many netizens echoed her concern, saying that even small cracks could indicate possible structural damage that needs immediate inspection. Others emphasized that student safety should always come first, particularly in times when aftershocks are still possible.

The incident has prompted calls for a thorough assessment of the school’s buildings to ensure that they remain safe for students and staff. Earthquakes, even mild ones, can weaken building structures over time, which is why regular safety checks are important.

As of this writing, no injuries or major damages have been reported, but the photos remind schools and authorities to stay vigilant. Parents and students hope that this will encourage educational institutions to prioritize preparedness and quick response in times of emergencies.
