Authorities Arrest Chinese National in Pasay City for Allegedly Extorting Money From His Countryman
A Chinese national was arrested after allegedly forcing a fellow Chinese to hand over P15,000 inside a condominium unit in Pasay City.
On Monday, September 1, 2025, the police authorities arrested a Chinese man for allegedly extorting money from his countryman in Barangay 76. The incident garnered various reactions from the online community.
Initial police investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim knew each other, making the case more alarming for investigators. According to Pasay City Police Chief Colonel Joselito De Sesto, authorities received information that the suspect had been staying in a nearby condominium.
The police officers successfully tracked and arrested him during a follow-up operation. During the arrest, police confiscated a knife and a taser gun believed to have been used to intimidate the victim.
Investigators suspect that this might not be the first time the suspect committed such a crime, as his method reportedly involved entering the rooms of acquaintances, threatening them with a weapon, and taking their money.
The arrested suspect refused to give any statement to police, saying he could not speak or understand Filipino or English.
Authorities also discovered that neither the suspect nor the victim could present valid documents or passports during the investigation, which raised further questions about their status in the country.
The suspect is now facing a robbery charge while police continue to search for his accomplice, who managed to escape during the operation.
