The simple living of Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo and her daughters, Jessica, Jillian, and Tricia, was praised by netizens amid the lavish lifestyle issue of politicians, government contractors, and their families.
This issue started after the problem in the flood control projects was raised. As a result, political personalities and company owners involved in government projects were criticized online for their lavish lifestyles.
One of those was Claudine Co, the daughter of the co-founder of Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corporation, mentioned by President Bongbong Marcos, who was allegedly involved in DPWH’s anomalous flood control projects.
Netizens also posted the names of contractors’ family members and politicians with lavish lifestyles. However, when it comes to the former Vice President and her children, netizens had a different point of view.
Netizens praised the Robredos. “Robredo ladies proving that you can be a politician, anak ng politician at asawa ng politician pero kayang mamuhay ng simple, at sumuporta sa local brands and products, and still be classy,” netizen @kimmydura wrote on a Reddit post under ChikaPH.
The photos showed that Mayor Leni and her daughters are supporting local brands of clothing, bags, and shoes, unlike the luxury items that other “nepo babies” flaunt on their social media pages.
In the comment section of the post, many netizens attested how the Robredos were living a simple life, unlike other families with political backgrounds.
A netizen recalled that there was a past interview in which Mayor Leni Robredo shared that she and her late husband, Jesse Robredo, who served as Secretary of the Interior and Local Government in the administration of President Benigno Aquino III,Ā really saved money for their travel funds.
