Megastar Sharon Cuneta expressed she’s happy and at peace after settling the cyberlibel case with Cristy Fermin.
Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Senator Kiko Pangilinan filed a cyber libel case against Cristy Fermin before the Makati City Prosecutors’ Office. This was after Fermin spread fake stories about them that involved the Megastar’s eldest daughter, KC Concepcion.
Cristy revealed that she lost against Sharon and Kiko, who filed five counts of libel against her. She paid the bail amounting to Php 48,000.00 per count after receiving the letter amounting to a total of Php 240,000.00.
After the loss, she issued a public apology, which led to an out-of-court settlement and reconciliation.
Fermin settled the cyberlibel issue with Sharon and Kiko, and the couple decided to withdraw the charges. Atty. Maria Fricela Kim stated, “Since the prosecution cannot proceed without the cooperation of the private complainants, Judge ruled that the case is dismissed for lack of evidence and Fermin is found not guilty.”
They accepted her apology, and in an Instagram post, the Megastar expressed how happy and at peace she was over the reconciliation. She quipped that their friendship still prevailed, and how easy it is to continue something valuable.
She wrote, “Di basta naitatapon at nalilimot ang pagkakaibigan. Napakadaling ipagpatuloy ang pagmamahalan! Namiss ko si Nay. My heart is so happy and at peace.”
The senator’s office confirmed that they have dropped their cyberlibel complaint against the entertainment columnist. Both parties have reached a “mediation procedure,” affirmed by the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148. Pangilinan welcomed the case’s dismissal and added that they are happy now, as they are finally able to move forward from the case.
