Duterte Believes More PDP-Laban Senatorial Bets Must Have Won
PDP-LABAN – The political party wants a manual recount of the votes in the 2025 Senatorial Elections, thus, it filed a petition before the Supreme Court.
Amid the campaign period for the 2025 Elections, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is the chairman of the Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan party was arrested by the Philippine authorities. His custody was also transferred to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.

Meanwhile, despite his detention in ICC, the former President has requested his family to campaign for the candidates of his political party. The Duterte siblings went full force in campaign for the senatorial candidates of the PDP-Laban. The following are the #Duter10:
- Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go
- Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa
- Congressman Rodante Marcoleta
- singer Jimmy Bondoc
- Jayvee Hinlo
- Raul Lambino
- actor Philip Salvador
- Atty. Victor Rodriguez
- Pastor Apollo Quiboloy
- Doc Marites Mata

Aside from the PDP-Laban candidates, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who joined several local campaign sorties also endorsed the senatorial bid of presidential sister Senator Imee Marcos and Las Piñas District Representative Camille Villar, the daughter of businessman and former Senate Pres. Manny Villar and former Sen. Cynthia Villar.

Before the Election Day, the Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan adopted Sen. Imee Marcos and Las Piñas District Rep. Camille Villar as their guest candidates. Following the elections, five (5) candidates from Duterte’s political party won in the senatorial race:
- Sen. Imee Marcos
- Las Piñas District Rep. Camille Villar
- Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa
- Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go
- Cong. Rodante Marcoleta
Sen. Go topped the 2025 Senatorial Race. However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte believes that more PDP-Laban bets could have won the senatorial race. She believes that Jayvee Hinlo Jr., Jimmy Bondoc, and Richard Mata allegedly won the elections.
According to the Vice President, Bondoc, Mata, and Hinlo won the Absentee Voting. She stressed that in 2022, the first time she knew she was winning the vice presidential race was when she won the Absentee Voting.
“Panalo po sila sa OFW vote, sa absentee voting. Lahat ng makadaupang kamay ko, lahat ng mayakap ko, lahat ng mahalikan ko sinasabi ko, dalhin niyo ang kodigo, vote straight tayo, 10 ang ating senators. Kaya po naniniwala talaga ako, sila ay ating mga senators,” Duterte said.
Amid the doubts of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte on the 2025 Senatorial Election results, the PDP-Laban filed a petition to the Supreme Court seeking for a mandate for manual recount of the senatorial votes. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the petition was filed by Atty. Israelito Torreon and he was accompanied by Jimmy Bondoc.

The PDP-Laban was represented by Alfonso Cusi, the national vice chairman of the political party. Based on the report, the party cited the Republic Act No. 9369 or the Automated Election System Act and Republic Act and Batas Pambansa Blg. 881 or the Omnibus Election Code as the basis of their petition.
“Whether such manual counting or recount be partial, targeted, or nationwide, petitioners humbly leave the same to the sound discretion of his Honorable Court, with due regard to the extent of necessity, efficiency, and economy or cost-effectiveness in implementing the pertinent election laws,” the party stated in their petition.
The Commission on Elections has yet to comment on the move of the PDP-Laban. Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was asked about the claim of Vice Pres. Duterte that more PDP bets should have won the election.
