68-Year-Old Man in Lapu-Lapu City Gets P20K After Undergoing Circumcision
A 68-year-old man from Lapu-Lapu City received a cash reward of P20,000 after undergoing a free circumcision procedure.
Circumcision is a procedure where the skin covering the tip of the penis, called the foreskin, is removed. People choose to do this for different reasons. Some do it because it is part of their culture or religion, especially in faiths like Islam and Judaism.
Others decide on circumcision for health reasons, as it may help with cleanliness and lower the chance of infections. Sometimes, it’s done because of medical problems, like when the foreskin is too tight or causes pain.
Recently, a senior citizen surprised many after joining the city’s free circumcision program, despite his age. As a reward for his courage, he received a P20,000 cash incentive from the local government.
The city’s “Libreng Tuli” program was mainly set up for boys and young men, but officials extended the invitation to adult males, especially those who have delayed the procedure for years.
The city is offering financial incentives to men aged 20 and above, including senior citizens, to encourage participation.
The elderly man stood out as he overcame his fear and finally decided to go through with the procedure. His bravery earned him a cash reward, which the city gives to older participants as a way of thanking them for supporting the program.
The city councilor, who is also a licensed doctor, personally performed the circumcision. The nurse assisting him happened to be none other than Ms. Lapu-Lapu City, adding a cheerful moment to the operation.
The program is part of Lapu-Lapu City’s campaign to promote health and hygiene. The city hopes more men will follow suit, especially those who missed the chance when they were younger.
