OFW’s Hopes Revitalize, Upon President Duterte’s State Visit To Malaysia

Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Malaysia were given hope upon the two-day official visit of President Rodrigo Duterte to the country.

The president visit would revitalize the hopes of the OFW’s for a government protection, according to Elizabeth Marie Estrada, Philippine labor attaché in Malaysia. She said that Duterte’s visit have a big significance, such as boosting the ties between Malaysia and Philippines.

She also believes that Duterte’s visit enhance the protective mechanisms for OFW’s and other things. The protection of more than 60, 000 OFW in Malaysia was assured by Estrada from the government. Estrada was also the head of Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO).

“Malaki yung significance ng visit ni President dito kasi syempre, I would like to believe na pinapaigting pa ang relasyon natin with Malaysia, yung sa pagpunta dito ni President and that would mean it will redound to betterment ng protective mechanisms for our workers, aside from other things,” said by Estrada quoted by Inquirer.
