Atty. Harry Roque Spotted in The Hague w/ Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Robin Padilla
HARRY ROQUE – The ex-spokesman of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is part of his legal team for the International Criminal Court (ICC) trial.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently in The Hague, Netherlands to face the accusations against him before the International Criminal Court. He was arrested on Monday upon his arrival from Hong Kong.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) implemented the arrest of Duterte at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in response to the Interpol. On the same day, the former President was flown to Dubai en route for the Netherlands.
The arrest of the former President earned the government and the president countless criticisms. Malacañang defended Pres. Bongbong Marcos saying he did not commit any betrayal as the government just did its job.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte flew to Dubai where he had a lay over prior to his flight to the Netherlands with former executive secretary Salvador Medialdea, a nurse, and his special assistant. Medialdea was appointed by Duterte as his legal counsel during his initial appearance before the ICC pre-trial chamber.
Ahead of the appearance of former Pres. Duterte before the pre-trial chamber of the International Criminal Court, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was spotted with Senator Robin Padilla and former presidential spokesman Atty. Harry Roque outside the ICC. It was the first time that Roque was seen publicly amid the issues linking him to the controversial illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in the country.
Based on a report on GMA News, aside from former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Atty. Harry Roque is also part of the legal team of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte in facing the accusations against him before the ICC. It was confirmed by Roque himself.
Roque is one of the Filipino lawyers who are accredited by the ICC. However, currently, it is still only Medialdea who is recognized as a legal counsel of former Pres. Duterte.
“Sa ngayon ay iisa pa lang ang na-recognize na lawyer, si Attorney Medialdea dahil siya nga yung kasama. Pero we have filled up all the documents para mapasama din ako sa team of counsels,” Roque said.
Based on the report, Harry Roque also revealed that the legal team of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte will also include a member of the British Bar, Atty. Kaufman. The three (3) of them compose the defense team of the former Philippine Chief Executive.
Reportedly, Roque said that they have submitted their requests to see Duterte but his main priority is for the Vice President to be able to see her father so former Pres. Duterte would know that she’s in The Hague.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and former Pres. Duterte have talked and he wants her to go home. According to her, she will just talk to his legal team and return to the country as requested by her father.
