Viral It’s Showtime contestant Heart Aquino graces COMELEC office.
HEART AQUINO – The contestant on the “It’s Showtime” segment who went viral visited the COMELEC office and was finally enlightened.
The interview about COMELEC of Vice Ganda with a contestant went viral after the latter confessed that she had limited knowledge regarding the functions of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). The 20-year-old contestant was asked for her message to COMELEC but was not able to answer because she knows little about it.
The viral clip has generated discourse on social media and raised questions regarding the educational system in the country. Vice Ganda reacted to the issue and shared his realizations: first, there are a lot of beautiful people in the Philippines, and second, there are systemic and educational problems in the country.
COMELEC invited the contestant named Heart Aquino to their office in Intramuros, Manila, to provide her a better understanding of the poll body.
She was given a guided tour at the Palacio del Gobernador and was welcomed by officials. She also had a meeting with Chairman George Erwin Garcia. During an interview with the press, Aquino expressed that she is now enlightened and finally understood the importance of the said government agency.
”Mas naunawaan ko po yung meaning din po talaga ng Comelec and kung ano po yung ginagawa nila,” Aquino told the media.
She then explained that what happened in the competition was an isolated case. She got a mental block as it was her first time on TV. She may not be knowledgeable, but she knows something.
Atty. Frances Arabe, Director III of Comelec’s Standards and Innovation Office of COMELEC expressed that they wanted to reach out to the youth, and Aquino can be this person. Through this, they are showing their willingness to reach out to them, and as for Aquino, she is open about this possibility.
“Actually kung titingnan ko po siya, its an opportunity po siya and yes po, willing naman po ako and to inspire the youth,” Aquino said.
