Russian Diver Die in Batangas Scuba Diving Due to Alleged Shark Attack
A Russian diver reportedly lost his life during a scuba diving session in Batangas City due to an alleged shark attack.
A shark attack occurs when a shark bites or injures a person, usually in the ocean. These incidents can happen for various reasons, such as mistaken identity, territorial defense, or curiosity.
While sharks are often feared, attacks on humans are actually rare. Most sharks do not see people as food, but they might bite if they mistake a swimmer or diver for their usual prey, like fish or seals.

Shark attacks can range from minor bites to serious injuries, and in some cases, they can be fatal.
To reduce the risk of shark attacks, experts recommend avoiding swimming alone, staying away from areas where sharks are commonly spotted, and not wearing shiny jewelry that might look like fish scales.
Recently, a scuba diving trip turned tragic for a group of Russian divers in Batangas City. Two of them lost their lives while exploring the waters of Pulang Bato near Verde Island, with one believed to have been attacked by a shark.

According to the Philippine Coast Guard, four Russian divers were in the water when strong currents suddenly separated them. Two managed to resurface safely, but the other two did not make it back.
Rescue teams later found one of the missing divers and rushed them to the hospital, but they were declared dead on arrival. Hours later, the body of the fourth diver was discovered.
Eventually, the diver’s right arm was missing, leading authorities to suspect a shark attack. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death and the events that led to the incident.

The Philippine Coast Guard has since recovered both bodies and continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
