Senator Pimentel: PH Human Rights Issues Is A Matter That Should Be Heard
Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel said that the issues and controversies regarding human rights in the Philippines is a matter that should be heard.
The senator believes that it is the right time to listen to the concerns and criticism of foreign countries and human right groups, regarding the increasing Extra Judicial Killings (EJK) in the Philippines. This is the reaction of Pimentel upon the refusal of United States (US) to sell rifles to the country.
Aside from the opportunity to explore the global market to find high-caliber weapons, it is also the right time to lend ears to the concerns and criticism throwing at the Philippines, according to Pimentel.
US Senator Ben Cardin, a member of Senate foreign relations committee opposed the proposed selling of 27, 000 assault rifles of the US State Department to the Philippines citing the alarming escalation of EJK victims from the intensified war on illegal drugs of President Rodrigo Duterte.
