Oil Price Update for February 25, 2025 (Tuesday), According to Fuel Firms
MIXED PRICE ADJUSTMENTS – Various fuel firms announced an oil price update for Tuesday (February 25, 2025).
Filipino motorists should prepare for changes in fuel prices next week, as global factors continue to affect the price of petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel and kerosene.
According to the Department of Energy (DOE), gasoline prices are likely to go up by P0.40 to P0.70 per liter. Diesel, on the other hand, may see a slight rollback of P0.10 per liter or a possible increase of up to P0.20 per liter.
Meanwhile, kerosene prices could remain unchanged or increase by P0.10 per liter.
The DOE attributes these fluctuations to concerns over a potential disruption in the global oil supply. One of the main triggers is a recent drone attack on a Russian pumping station, which affected the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) and cut oil flows by 30-40%.
Additionally, discussions among G7 countries about tightening the price cap on Russian oil may further impact the market, particularly in India and China, which are major buyers of Russian crude.
OPEC+ is also reportedly considering delaying planned production increases set for April, further adding to market uncertainty. These developments have led to mixed trends in fuel trading, resulting in the expected price adjustments for the upcoming week.
Local fuel firms announce official price changes every Monday, with adjustments taking effect the following day.
Earlier this week, gasoline and diesel prices increased by P0.80 per liter, while kerosene saw a P0.10 per liter hike. As geopolitical tensions and supply concerns continue to affect the global market, Filipino motorists can expect fuel prices to remain volatile in the coming weeks.
