Snatcher Who Attempted to Steal from His Victim Arrested After Tripping
A snatcher was arrested after an attempt to steal from a passerby went wrong in Brgy. San Nicolas Proper, Cebu City.
A snatcher is a thief who quickly grabs or steals items, usually from unsuspecting victims in public places. Snatchers often target bags, wallets, or phones and escape on foot or by motorcycle.
On Wednesday (February 5, 2025), a robbery incident took place along T. Abella Street, right in front of the San Nicolas Barangay Hall, and was captured by nearby CCTV cameras. The footage garnered various reactions from the online community.

In his Facebook page, Barangay Captain Clifford Niñal shared the video, showing the suspect’s actions leading up to the arrest. The video revealed that the suspect arrived on a motorcycle, then casually walked along the street, keeping an eye on two women ahead of him.
As the suspect followed the women, he attempted to snatch their belongings. However, his plan quickly unraveled. While trying to grab the women’s possessions, he lost his footing and stumbled, which drew attention to his actions.
The suspect was quickly caught just minutes later, and the police were able to arrest him.

Thanks to the CCTV footage and the quick response from local authorities, the snatcher was apprehended before he could escape. The incident serves as a reminder of the effectiveness of security cameras in catching criminals and preventing further crimes
The local community also praised the quick actions of both the residents and the barangay officials, who helped bring the suspect to justice immediately.
The suspect now faces charges for his attempted crime, and his arrest will hopefully serve as a warning to others.
