Couple Shocked to Find Newly Purchased Home Ransacked

Couple Heartbroken After Discovering Their Newly Purchased Home Was Ransacked

A couple was shocked after discovering that the house they had won through a Pag-IBIG bidding was completely ransacked and damaged.

The couple had bought the property for P2.9 million after it was foreclosed due to the previous ownerā€™s failure to pay for over ten years. Upon receiving the keys, they were shocked to find their new home in ruins, forcing them to spend an additional P500,000 on repairs.

According to the couple, the former occupants were upset because they were not allowed to stay in the house until January 30, as they had requested to spend Christmas and New Year there.

ā€œAng reason daw po nā€™ung dating owner is dahil hindi raw po namin sila napagbigyan na mag-stay hanggang January 30, gusto nilang mag-Pasko and New Year dito sa bahay,ā€ one of the victims said.

Unfortunately, the couple couldnā€™t accommodate this request since they also had to vacate their rented home, leaving them caught in a difficult situation.

Pag-IBIG Fund officials have classified the act as vandalism and theft. Domingo Jacinto Jr., Pag-IBIG Fund Vice President for Public and Member Relations, emphasized that the prior occupants had no legal right to damage or take anything from the property once it had been sold.

The Notice to Vacate clearly states that the former residents are prohibited from tampering with, vandalizing, or stealing anything from the house.

Adding to the couple’s frustration, the previous owners are now untraceable and unreachable, both by the new homeowners and the local barangay. This incident serves as a cautionary tale for property buyers, highlighting the importance of thorough inspections and legal safeguards when acquiring foreclosed properties.
