Janno Gibbs Defends Vivamax (VMX) Content

Janno Gibbs answered the criticism against VMX

Comedian-singer Janno Gibbs defended the content of video streaming platform VMX, formerly Vivamax.

The platform, under Viva Entertainment, is known for its sultry movies. It features revealing and provoking scenes and themes.

In December last year, Senator Jinggoy Estrada criticized VMX in his privilege speech. He stressed that the streaming platform is showing inappropriate content and this is accessible to minors. He also said that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) should do something about this.

However, in a reply to the Senator’s statement, MTRCB stressed that the agency has no power yet over online streaming platforms.

Janno Gibbs shared his thoughts on this, based on the article in The Philippine Star.

“Vivamax, a subscription-based popular streaming service, has gained attention not for its meaningful and family-oriented content but for inundating the digital space with films and shows filled with graphic, sexual, and exploitative material,” the comedian-singer defended VMX.

On the other hand, Janno said that he understood Sen, Jinggoy because he is just doing his job and he is doing well. The star of the VMX gag show Wow Mani also said that the senator has the right to express his opinion.

However, Janno stressed that VMX is not for public viewing but a private viewing venue because there is a subscription.

You are paying for it. Ikaw lang mag-isa. It’s not like na kayo maraming manonood. It has a child lock, and you need a credit card,” he said. Janno added that sultry scenes in VMX can also be watched on Netflix and that the latter sometimes even had more intense scenes.

Janno Gibbs also stressed that VMX is giving opportunities to newbies and helping them reach the mainstream field. He added that movies in VMX were written and directed by respected names in the industry.
