Controversial director Darryl Yap shares a post addressing the trolls who ask who his backers are that make him that brave.
Veteran actor-TV host Vic Sotto filed a case against filmmaker Darryl Yap at the Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 205. Previously, Sotto filed 19 counts of cyber libel versus the Pepsi Paloma director whose name was mentioned in a teaser but in a controversial way.
Sotto sued Yap seeking Php 35 million as total damages. Prior to this, Sotto’s camp filed a petition to order the issuance of a Writ of Habeas Data which was granted.
Pepsi Paloma was an actress during the 80s. She was tied with Sotto and other personalities who were accused of violating her. The case was not clarified and ended in mystery the same with how she ended her own life.
In a Facebook post, Yap addressed his trolls and in his new post, he answered the people asking who his backers are that make him that brave. He wrote, “Dear Trolls, sa mga nagtatanong sino ang nasa likod ko bakit ako matapang…”
According to him, it wasn’t “Imee” as she actually doesn’t want him to make a film to focus on her campaign series. He added that his friend was never behind his back, they were always beside him.
It is also not “Jalosjos” as he cannot make a movie for someone who faces the same issue as the subject of his film.
It’s also not “Discaya” as he doesn’t even know this person.
He explained that the release of his film is in 2025 in order to commemorate the 40th death anniversary of the late actress and not for anything else. As someone who hails from Olongapo, the same place where Paloma was hailed, they would not understand the significance it holds for him.
The director ended his post with this:
“Mali ang tanong na SINO ANG NASA LIKOD KO,
BAKIT AKO MATAPANG, KUNDI ANO.
Walang iba kundi ang buong katotohanan.
Tapang at Sarap”
