Grade 1 Students’ Witty Take on Filipino Proverbs Brings Laughter Online
A substitute teacher went viral online for posting her Grade 1 students’ witty answers about Filipino proverbs.
Recently, a substitute teacher at the Children of God Learning Academy delighted netizens by sharing her Grade 1 students’ creative and funny answers to a class activity about Filipino proverbs.
The teacher, Jizelle Salunga, explained that she was inspired by a TikTok video featuring clever answers from first graders abroad. Wanting to try something similar, she adapted the idea for her students using well-known Filipino proverbs.

“Naisip ko ipagawa rin sa students namin and mas funny siguro if mga salawikain natin sa Philippines. True enough, mas nakakaaliw nga ‘pag Tagalog,” Salunga said.
Salunga thought the activity would be even more entertaining in Tagalog and she was right. During the activity, the young learners were asked to complete familiar Filipino proverbs, but their answers took a twist.
“So ayun, pina-activity ko sa kanila and decided to post it to share the good vibes brought by the kids and their thought process,” she added.

The activity not only emphasized the creativity of young minds but also reminded everyone of the value of finding humor in everyday moments. For Salunga, it was a simple way to connect with her students and share positivity.
The students’ answers and their interpretations of traditional proverbs have been brought online, proving that wisdom can sometimes come with a dose of laughter.
