Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte Attends House Quad Comm Hearing for the 1st Time
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President has arrived at the Batasang Pambansa for the House Quad Comm hearing on the drug war.
The camp of former Pres. Duterte confirmed that he will attend the House hearing today. It was former presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo who said that he and the former President will go to Batasang Pambansa Complex for the hearing.
The House Quad Committee has been conducting hearings over the Duterte drug war but the former President has repeatedly snubbed the invitation at the inquiry. Previously, his camp explained that the former Chief Executive has doubts on the integrity and independence of the House Quad Comm.
Recently, an update has crossed the surface. Based on a report on GMA News, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has arrived at the Batasang Pambansa for the hearing over his administration’s war on drugs.
The hearing of the House Quad Comm is really set today, November 13, 2024. However, the mega panel decided to postpone it to a later date and, shortly after, cancelled the earlier notice after former presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said that they will go to the hearing to confront the House Quad Comm.
According to Panelo, the mega panel allegedly did not inform them that there was a change in the schedule. The House Quad Comm stressed that they allegedly decided to postpone the hearing on Monday and informed Duterte and his legal counsel about it.
The mega panel further claimed that they did not receive any formal communication from the camp of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte regarding his attendance to the hearing as of noon time of Tuesday.
Former Pres. Duterte’s attendance to the House hearing today is his first time to attend the inquiry conducted by the House Quad Comm over his administration’s war on drugs. It is a different case with regards to the Senate hearing on the drug war of the previous admin.
Former Pres. Duterte appeared at the first hearing of the upper chamber. Prior to it, Senator Bato dela Rosa who is close to the former Chief Executive expressed his belief that Duterte is more comfortable in the Senate than in the House of Representatives.
Dela Rosa was the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief during the Duterte administration. According to Dela Rosa, he has no regrets in joining the Duterte drug war.
