Lawmaker Calls for Sara Duterte Psychological Evaluation Following Alarming Threats Toward President Marcos Jr.

SARA DUTERTE – A lawmaker has called for Vice President Sara Duterte to undergo a psychological evaluation after she made alarming threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his family, raising concerns about her mental and emotional stability.

House Assistant Majority Leader and Zambales 1st District Representative Jay Khonghun has called for Vice President Sara Duterte to undergo a “psychological assessment” following her recent threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his family. The remarks were made by Khonghun on Sunday, October 17, in response to Duterte’s controversial statements made during a press conference.

During the press conference, Duterte revealed that she had warned Senator Imee Marcos, the President’s sister, about political attacks coming from the administration. Duterte’s threat included exhuming the remains of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and throwing them into the West Philippine Sea if such attacks continued. Furthermore, Duterte admitted to having imagined cutting off President Marcos Jr.’s head.

Khonghun expressed deep concern over Duterte’s remarks, stating that no rational individual would conceive or make such statements. “No reasonable person would conceive of, much less make, this kind of statement. The level of irrationality in her words is deeply alarming,” he said in Filipino.

According to the report, he called for Duterte to undergo a comprehensive psychological evaluation to assess her capacity to continue serving the country in her current role.

Khonghun pointed out that Duterte’s statements reflect problems that go beyond the misuse of public funds, which has been an issue in the current administration. He argued that her behavior indicated a more profound issue that needs immediate attention.

He said that such violent and disturbing rhetoric is unacceptable, especially from a sitting Vice President. Ortega stressed that the nation deserves leaders who are mentally and emotionally stable, particularly during these challenging times.

Both Khonghun and Ortega emphasized the importance of addressing these concerns to ensure that the country’s leadership remains strong, capable, and stable.
