Isko Moreno visits Doc Willie Ong in hospital.
Cardiologist and 2022 vice presidential candidate Doc Willie Ong is battling cancer and recently, he was visited by Isko Moreno.
Doc Willie said his sarcoma was one of the biggest doctors had ever seen. A 16-centimeter mass “deeply hidden” behind his heart, in front of his spine was discovered and this was the reason why, for a while, he’s been inactive online.
Doc Willie revealed his cancer just recently and many were saddened. He is loved by many for his health videos and health tips that helped a lot of people. According to him, the cancer was possibly caused by the extreme stress he suffered from.
The mass is also blocking the doctor’s esophagus, inferior vena cana, and right atrium.
Along with this revelation was his dissatisfaction with the country’s healthcare system. He cried for injustice to the people. He is lucky to have access to the best of medical help for his condition but feels bad to his poor fellowmen who can’t have the same privileges as him.
He started to feel fluctuations in his health in April 2023. He initially thought the symptoms just come with aging but when diagnosed, the underlying condition was way more serious than getting old. It was sarcoma cancer, “a rare type of malignant tumor that develops in bone and connective tissue such as fat, muscle, blood vessels, nerves, and the tissue that surrounds bones and joints”.
In a previous article, Isko Moreno reached out to him. The former mayor was saddened but reminded him to be strong and that God has mercy. At the same time, he is hoping for his quick recovery.
Recently, in a post, Moreno visited the doctor battling cancer in a Singapore hospital. They met and according to him, Ong remains weak and there are still a lot of chemo sessions to be done to him.
Ong also expressed a message to his fellowmen according to Moreno. He shared, “Mahal daw niya ang mga kababayan nating Pilipino at hangga’t malakas siya hindi daw siya titigil ng tulong sa taong bayan at sa bansa hangang sa dulo.”
