2-Year-Old Son Left by His Father at Waiting Shed in Occidental Mindoro

A two-year-old boy was left alone by his father at a waiting shed in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.

The incident took place in Barangay Singko, where the father was seen sitting with the boy before abruptly leaving him at the shed. The video of the incident surfaced online capturing the concern of many netizens.

Khate Reyes, a passerby, noticed the child sitting alone and decided to stay with him, worried about the boy’s safety, as the area was a busy road with passing vehicles. Fearing the child could wander into traffic, she kept him company and eventually called the local barangay officials for assistance.

Reyes took a picture of the boy and shared it on social media, hoping to locate his family. Fortunately, the Social Welfare Office of the barangay temporarily took care of the boy. Aside from a few ant bites and minor wounds on his feet and fingers, the child was in good health.

It wasn’t long before the boy’s grandparents came forward to claim him. After verifying their identities, the barangay turned over the boy to their care. The grandmother confirmed that the man seen with the child in the video was indeed her son, and that he was the boy’s father.

She added that the child’s parents had separated, and her son had been responsible for looking after the boy.

However, the grandparents were unsure why their son left the boy at the shed and had no information on his current whereabouts. They expressed their willingness to care for their grandson moving forward.

The video of the incident raised questions about potential legal consequences for the father if he intentionally abandoned his child.
