Morissette Amon says it is important to speak up when her name is being tarnished
Asia’s Phoenix Morissette Amon stressed that she is ready to protect her job against people who are trying to create some issues.
Morissette is not a newbie when it comes to dealing with issues and controversies. The recent issue against her was raised by talent coordinator Vic Sevilla who posted a blind item on social media.
He expressed his dismay after the performer known as “Phoenix” and popular for her “whistle tone” provided the audience with a “lackluster performance” which was contrary to what was expected of her.
Sevilla pointed out that the status of the performer required a hefty amount but they did not get the performance that she should provide for the audience. Although he did not mention Morissette Amon’s name, with his clues, it was quick for netizens to conclude that it was the Asia’s Phoenix.
Morissette did not hesitate to defend herself from this write-up against her. She explained that she was not feeling well at that time but she chose to continue with her performance and gave her best to entertain the audience.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Inquirer, the singer stressed that her way of releasing a statement on this issue was her way of protecting her job.
“I’m trying to protect my work at naglabas din ng resibo ang asawa ko. I’m just doing my work to try to deliver and sing… Walang nakarating sa’kin personally but I don’t mind. It happens,” she said.
She also shared that the talent coordinator apologized to her. “‘Yung talent coordinator, nag-apologize naman and mismong nag-contact. So nag-apologize naman,” the singer said without mentioning Sevilla’s name.
Then, Morissette said that she would not hesitate to answer publicly if someone posted something against her. She pointed out that this issue could be addressed privately but that was not the chosen route which “stained her image.”
“I think it’s important, especially now, with the internet being very accessible to speak up on important matters, especially when it comes to your core values,” the singer said.
Morissette Amon also admitted that rumors hurt her. She thinks that there are people who would not understand the whole story and that prompted her to speak up as the issue was getting bigger.
