KIM CHIU – Here are some of the important details about the actress from her background to her success career in showbiz.

Currently dubbed “Queen of Digital Streaming” is Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu whose career skyrocketed despite having issues after another. Her growth and career in the show business industry is an open book to the public. She has a humble beginning and after winning a reality show, she worked hard to learn the skills needed to be an actress and a performer.

Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu is her real name and she was born on April 19, 1990. She is the fourth of the five children of William Chiu and Louella. She has a very close relationship to their eldest Lakam and because of her success in showbiz, she was able to send her other siblings to good schools.

She is from Cebu and decided to leave her hometown for Manila to join the first-ever teen edition of Pinoy Big Brother, a reality show.

One of the regrets of the actress was not earning a college degree. However, despite everything, she remained hopeful to go back to school someday and get a diploma. She may not able to go to a university, one of the things most rewarding to her is sending and supporting three of her siblings in their college education.

From 2015 to 2017, she attended the University of the Philippines Open University taking up a business management course but she was not able to continue this as her work as an actress demanded a lot from her time.

As mentioned, she joined the PBB teen edition and in her batch, she was the only teen housemate who never received a nomination throughout the program’s run. After winning the show, she joined Star Magic and her love team with Gerald Anderson became a success.

She and Anderson became regulars in ASAP and among their first projects were Love Spell, Aalog-alog, and First Day High, a film. Her biggest break was Sana Maulit Muli in 2007. Her role in this series made her win the 38th Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Awards as Most Promising Female Star and Best New Female TV Personality at the 21st PMPC Star Awards.

This was followed by Tayong Dalawa in 2009 which put her on top among her contemporaries. Her first film to reach the Php 100 million-mark was I Love You, Goodbye. This is the film where she did her first villain role. Her performance was recognized and received nominations from various award-giving bodies.
