China Warns U.S. On Coming Arbitration Ruling
China recently warned the United States ahead of a key international court ruling regarding the claims of the nation in the disputed West Philippine Sea claims.
In a report by ABS-CBN, the foreign minister of China had a conversation with U.S Secretary of State John Kerry on a telephone warning the Washington against its moves that intrude the sovereignty of the Asian Giant nation.
According to the Xinhua News Agency, Wang Yi repeatedly expressed the rejection of Asian Giant regarding the jurisdiction of the International Court of Arbitration in a case filed by the Philippines against the claims of the Asian Giant in almost all the South China Sea. Wang Yi said that this has to come to an end.
As the court based in The Hague will be giving its ruling this Tuesday, there are fears of a confrontation between the two giant nations are raising.
Xinhua said that Kerry told Wang to urge “the United States to honor its commitment to not to take sides on issues related to sovereign disputes, to be prudent with its actions and words, and not to take any actions that infringe upon the sovereignty and security interests of China.”
Wang pointed out that whatever the ruling of the tribunal may be, China would “firmly safeguard its own territorial sovereignty and legitimate maritime rights and firmly safeguard the peace and stability,” as quoted by Xinhua.
He added that the China and the United States’ relations were stable as the nations should rather focus on cooperation while managing their differences.
The report added that it is confirmed that Kerry had spoken to Wang via phone but gave no details.
The U.S officials have been fearing that the Asian nation might be declaring an “air defense identification zone” and by leveling-up its building and reinforcement of artificial islands as a response to the ruling from The Hague.
