“When I Met You In Tokyo” is among this year’s 10 MMFF 2023 official movie entries starring Vilma Santos and Christopher De Leon. For her performance in this film the Star For All Seasons won the Best Actress award.

Many people questioned this and some even criticized her win as the top-earning film “Rewind” did not get any award. In an interview, the veteran actress clapped back to the doubters and people who questioned her victory.
She expressed that she may be used to receiving negative comments but what she cannot stand is the allegation that she had a hand in the decision of the jurors. She was in disbelief of this and even quipped, “My God, God knows na ni isa we did not lift a finger para sabihin mong to get the Best Actress award.”
All she ever did is to accept the award.
She defended herself from those who said that she should give others the chance to win as she has already gained a lot in terms of this kind of recognition. According to her, she cannot go against the decision of the jurors and she doesn’t even know about it. She’s just thankful for the award.
To recall, she said earlier that the Best Actress award was unexpected.
As for the box-office performance of their film, the veteran actress expressed they have no control over it.
