Joma Sison the founding chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CCP) approves the decision of the newly elected President of the Republic, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to allow the former strongman and considered as one of the country’s most successful president with thousands of infrastructure project during his terms to be buried at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani.
During a teleconference via Skype on Thursday afternoon, the CCP chairman said that the Libingan ng Mga Bayani is just a named use beginning 1947 and majority of those buried there are just soldiers of the Republic. “Karamihan ng nakalibing diyan ay mga Amerikanong sundalo ng mga reaksyonaryong hukbo,” said Sison.
According to the 77-year-old Joma Sison the late President Marcos is fit to be buried there not as a hero but as a soldier despite the fact that the late President allegedly faked his war credentials during his service as a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Although the CCP Chairman approves of Mayor Duterte’s decision to allow the burial of Pres. Marcos at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani, he also sympathizes with groups blocking Marcos’ burial there. “Pwedeng ilibing diyan pero ako naman may sympatiya sa mga ayaw na malibing diyan dahil may presumption na lugar iyan ng mga bayani.”
Jose Ma. Sison also added that Pres. Marcos should be buried along the three former Philippine presidents two of whom he called corrupt. The CCP Chairman also clarified that the National Democratic Front (NDF) will not react in all issues hurled at Mayor Rody Duterte. Joma Sison’s focus right now is the release of all political prisoners and fact-tracking of the peace process between the Philippine government and Asia’s longest-running communist rebellion of the CCP.
