Daniel Padilla was featured in koreaboo.com
Supreme Idol Daniel Padilla was accused of “mocking Koreans” during his speech at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards held at the Philippine Arena on December 14.
Daniel has already attended several awards nights and it was a common reaction that he would receive congratulations and commendations if he’s one of the awards recipients. However, in a recent awarding ceremony, he received a different reaction.
Reportedly, before he started his speech, some people booed him and called him a cheater. This aligns with his recent issue with his ex-girlfriend actress Kathryn Bernardo, who also received the Fabulous Award (Television/Film), like him.
Daniel Padilla was featured in South Korea’s showbiz site koreaboo.com and this was about the allegation that he was “mocking Koreans.” The Supreme Idol started his speech in Filipino and then, he said “annyeong” and laughed afterward.
This did not sit well with some netizens because they said that Daniel should have researched the formal way of Korean greeting and accused him of laughing afterward seemed to be a mockery.
why did that guy laugh after saying “annyeong” 🤨🤨🤨 that sounded so disrespectful https://t.co/ef8Rf88NEF

imagine how dumb u must be to greet an informal “annyeong” and then laugh afterwards in an awards show where the honored guests are primarily koreans. i know he got multiple side eyes https://t.co/v4wh1O68VN

On the other hand, some netizens explained as to why Daniel laughed after saying “annyeong.” A netizen said that could be a sign that he felt nervous or awkward while a netizen pointed out that some people would really find what to hate about the actor.
tbh people these days would make an issue about everything! lol

how sure are u that it’s mocking? laughing doesn’t always equate to mocking,, sometimes it’s how u express nervousness/anxiety will all the eyes looking at you,,
Just say you hate him, but ok go on i guess? https://t.co/IU0awE63CC
idc if y'all believe those accusations or not but are you seriously going to torment his actions that had no intention to mock or ridicule anyone at all? dj is not a kpop fan or anything so a simple 'annyeong' was all he could do, yes it's the informal way but seriously not ++ https://t.co/ifnHHgjJkL

As of writing, Daniel Padilla has not spoken yet about the allegations that he was “mocking Koreans” during his speech at AAA.
Meanwhile, the actor caught the attention of many netizens his breakup post was no longer available in his Instagram post and just wrote “Ikaw at ako” on his photo with Kathryn Bernardo. This garnered speculations that they reconciled. However, in an Instagram post, the actress appeared to have dismissed the rumored reconciliation with her “no looking back” caption.
