NBOC Defers Canvassing of Votes for Iloilo Because NO COCs Were Found

The National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) defers the canvassing of votes for Iloilo City due some discrepancies found during the counting, in the Presidential and Vice Presidential race it was suspended after no certificate of canvass was found in the ballot boxes for the area.

Senate Secretary Oscar Yabes stated “These ballot boxes have been opened and their contents have been examined and there appears to be no copy of certificate of canvass in these two ballot boxes,” said Senate Secretary Oscar Yabes during the session of the joint canvassing committee.

Due to the discrepancies found, the Senate canvassing panel chair Aquilino Pimentel III deferred the canvass of votes and directed the Iloilo City poll officials to deliver the “missing” COC to Congress within 24 hours.

The City of Iloilo is considered as the bailiwick of the administration party, Liberal Party of the Philippines headed by Pres. Aquino with their standard-bearer Mar Roxas and Camarines Sur Congresswoman Leni Robredo for Vice President in the recently concluded May 9 elections.

Rep. Leni Robredo, the wife of the late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo is in a tight race for the Vice Presidential race against Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

During the second day of the national board of canvassers in the Vice Presidential race, Sen. Bongbong Marcos leads the race against VP candidate Rep. Leni Robredo.
