The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters defeated the pesky Alaska Aces in Game 6 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday night with the final score of 109-92. The victory of the Elasto Painters marked their second title in franchise history since winning the crown during the 2012 PBA Governor’s Cup.
Gilas Pilipinas mainstay Paul Lee who was named as the Cignal PBA Press Corps Finals MVP finished with an impressive 20 points performance to lead his team in the best-of-seven title conquest against the Alaska Aces.
The Elasto Painters fumbled during the last two games of the finals series against the Aces after they moved a win away from the title with their blazing 3-0 performance against the title-contender, Alaska Aces.
Aside from Paul Lee, another Painters guard shine during the Game 6 of the finals series, Jericho Cruz paced Rain or Shine in the series clincher with his impressive 21 points and five rebounds, while big man JR Quinahan stepped out of his funk to end up with 14 markers and dominated the frontline of the Painters.
Rain or Shine atoned its four Finals heartbreaks in the last three years and their ecstatic coach Yeng Guiao snared his seventh title as a mentor, all of which coming from import-laden conferences.
Meanwhile the Alaska Aces failed another heartbreaking finals defeat and came up short anew in adding another title to the franchise’s illustrious history. Best Player of the Conference winner Calvin Abueva led the Aces on his valiant effort of 26 points and eight rebounds during the Game 6 of the PBA Finals.
