Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted that he fathered a child with a member of his household staff over the past 10 years. Such revelation apparently prompted his wife Maria Shriver to split-up a week ago.

For about 25 years of marriage, Arnold who is a former California governor and his wife Maria reared their four children namely 21-year-old Katherine, 19-year-old Christina, 17-yearl-old Patrick and 13-year-old Christopher.

However, when Schwarzenegger acknowledged about his fatherhood to a child whose mother had rendered almost 20 years of service in their family, the couple finally declared a separation on May 9.

Before announcing their decision, Shriver already decided to leave their Brentwood mansion earlier this year.

After leaving the governor’s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago. I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry,” a statement released by Schwarzenegger in an article published in Los Angeles Times newspaper.

The publisher kept the privacy concerning the name of the woman who worked in the couple’s mansion as well as the name of the child who was known to be born before the Terminator actor occupied his political office.

Representatives of the ex-governor as well as the spokesman for the former first lady were silent about giving further comments regarding the said issue.

His wife Maria, 55, supported Schwarzenegger all throughout his gubernatorial campaign in 2003. On his first public comment following the announcement of their separation, Schwarzenegger told the media that they had “loved each other very much” as a couple.

According to the 63-year-old action star, he is taking their separation “one day at a time.” Despite the issue, the couple were able to say how much they were blessed for the wonderful people surrounding them in this tough time.
