Awra Briguela Issue: Makati Chief Lambasted By Tulfo For “Discriminatory” Claims

Makati Chief of Police has these claims about Awra Briguela issue and his involvement in a scuffle.

AWRA BRIGUELA ISSUE – Senator Raffy Tulfo dismissed the intriguing remark of Makati Police Chief Edward Cutiyog against Awra Briguela.

In a previous article, comedian and social media personality Awra Briguela faced physical injuries, alarm and scandal, disobedience to authority, and direct assault charges. This is following the brawl he got involved in Makati.

He is currently in detention. Many were standing with him and asking for justice for him as he was handcuffed after defending his friend. There were claims online that he defended his female friend from hostile perpetrators while they were in a club.

Raffy Tulfo’s “Wanted Sa Radyo” investigated the case and interviewed Makati City Police Station Chief of Police P/Col. Edward Cutiyog. In the interview, Tulfo asked the police officer about the incident and expressed his understanding of their duties and responsibilities in situations like this but a particular remark of the officer caught his attention and the senator immediately dismissed this.

Awra Briguela Issue

The police officer’s narrative about their investigation:

“Noong medyo nakainom na itong si Awra, pinuntahan itong victim at pinipilit itong hubaran para matignan ang katawan… Noong nasa harap na sila ng establishment bar na iyon ay sinundan sila ng grupo led by Awra and then pinagpupunit ang kanilang damit. And then sinira siya, and then nahulog, and then pinagtatadyakan ng ibang kasamahan. Yun po ang nangyari.”

Tulfo asked Cutiyog about Briguela’s motive and his reply was: “Eh alam mo naman, si Awra is gay. Gusto niyang makita ‘yung magandang katawan.”

But the senator immediately shrugged this off by saying, “Ay hindi, sir. Mali ka dyan, sir. Huwag gano’n. Palibhasa gay ay gusto agad makita ang katawan ng isang lalaki?”

In the same interview, the chief of police revealed that their investigation was only based on the narrative of the complainant which made Tulfo urge them to also hear the said of Briguela. He believes that the complainant’s narrative is not “bible truth”.

However, the police insisted that no one from Awra’s camp filed a complaint, the reason why the complainant involved in the incident was not detained.

Tulfo added that the claims of the officer were discriminatory not just for Awra but also for the LGBTQ community. He added, “Next time po maging patas po kayo at huwag po kayong mag-discriminate.”
