Dolly de Leon highlighted an important factor for an international acting career
Seasoned actress Dolly de Leon has this advice to Filipino artists who want to pursue a career in Hollywood.
Dolly was able to establish her name in the international entertainment scene through the movie Triangle of Sadness. Through that big break, new acting opportunities opened for her.
Based on the article in Bandera, following the said critically acclaimed international film, Dolly is set to do another project, the movie Grand Death Lotto with John Cena, Awkwafina, Simu Liu, Ayden Mayeri, Seann William Scott, and Donald Elise Watkins.
In a recent interview, she was asked to give advice to those who also want to live their Hollywood dream. She started by saying that a question should be asked to one’s self.
“Well to all the actors trying their luck in the international scene, I think the first thing you had to do is to ask yourself,” Dolly de Leon said.
Then, she continued by stating that question. “It is a very important question and that is WHY? Why do you want to be there, and based on the answer you get from yourself, explore that answer and check if you’re there for the right reasons,” the seasoned actress shared.
Dolly stressed that if one has the right reason to be there, then, it is most likely to be a successful endeavor. She added that there is nothing wrong with achieving fame and earning a lot of money but one should put in mind “finding the truth in the stories that we tell in the characters that we play.”
If the right reason is already there, Dolly de Leon stressed the importance of studying and being with people who can play vital roles in achieving the Hollywood dream. “And if that is the answer, go out and study, read, get together with like-minded people, other actors, filmmakers and have a discussion, have coffee and read scripts and do reading,” she said adding that one should not be afraid to explore when it comes to his or her dream.
