Atty. Jose Sison, the Face of Ipaglaban Mo, Dies at 88
ATTY. JOSE SISON – The veteran lawyer and former Ipaglaban Mo host has died at the age of 88 on Thursday, July 23, 2026. His passing was confirmed by his son, Atty. Jopet Sison, through a social media post.
Jopet shared that his father passed away peacefully and lived a full life devoted to his family, his legal career, and serving the Filipino people. He also asked everyone to keep Atty. Sison in their prayers and remember him with love.
The wake will begin on July 24 at the Ascension Chapel of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Cubao, Quezon City. His burial is scheduled on July 28 at Heaven’s Gate Memorial Park 1 in Antipolo City.

Atty. Sison became one of the country’s most respected legal personalities through his work in both law and television. He was best known as the longtime host of Ipaglaban Mo, the legal drama anthology that aired from 1988 to 1999 on IBC-13 and later on ABS-CBN. The program featured real-life legal cases and helped educate viewers about their legal rights in a simple and understandable way.
He was also known for the show’s famous message encouraging people to stand up for what is right, which became closely associated with his name.

When Ipaglaban Mo returned in 2013, Atty. Sison came back as co-host together with his son, Jopet, on GMA News TV. The program later returned to ABS-CBN in 2014 and remained on air until 2020.
Throughout his career, Atty. Sison earned the respect of many Filipinos for making legal knowledge easier to understand and more accessible to the public. His work inspired countless viewers to know and protect their rights.
As of this writing, the Sison family has not released the official cause of his death. His legacy in law, public service, and television continues to be remembered by many.
