Young Girl in Palawan Dies After Alleged Cobra Bite
A five-year-old girl in Bataraza, Palawan, reportedly died from a cobra bite while she was sleeping beside her mother.
According to reports, only the child and her mother were inside their home on the night the incident happened. The young girl was sleeping peacefully when she suddenly woke up crying and complaining of severe pain.
Her mother initially believed that the child had been bitten by an insect, as there was no immediate sign that a snake was involved. Concerned about her daughter’s condition, she sought help from a local healer, thinking the pain was caused by a minor bite or sting.

However, as the hours passed, the girl’s condition gradually worsened. She became weaker and showed signs of serious distress, prompting her family to take her to a hospital for medical treatment.
Despite their efforts to save her, the child was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor.
Authorities and family members later found a cobra hiding underneath the bed where the child had been sleeping.
Investigators believe that the snake may have bitten the girl while she was asleep, causing the symptoms that eventually led to her death. The discovery helped explain the fast deterioration of her condition.
The relatives reportedly captured and killed the cobra they believed was responsible for the child’s death.
Authorities continue to remind residents to regularly inspect their homes and surroundings for possible snake hiding spots and to seek immediate medical attention whenever a snake bite is suspected.
