Authorities Arrest Riding-in-Tandem Suspects After Robbing Burger Stand in Bulacan
Two riding-in-tandem suspects were arrested after allegedly robbing a 19-year-old burger stand worker in Barangay Siling Bata, Pandi, Bulacan.
On the early hours of July 12, 2026 (Sunday), the suspects arrived at the burger stand on a motorcycle and pretended to be regular customers. They placed an order and waited for the right moment before carrying out the robbery.
One of the suspects suddenly opened the store door, declared a holdup, and took more than P1,000 from the cash register. His companion then entered the stall and grabbed the victim’s cellphone.
Despite being caught off guard, the young worker tried to fight back and even chased the suspects. However, the two quickly escaped on their motorcycle before anyone could stop them.
Police immediately launched a follow-up investigation. On Monday, authorities arrested the 25-year-old motorcycle driver believed to be involved in the crime. Investigators recovered the motorcycle used during the robbery, but the stolen cash and cellphone were no longer found.
Police said the victim and a witness were able to identify the suspect because he was from the same barangay. During the robbery, he reportedly lifted his helmet, making it easier for people to recognize him.
The second suspect, a 24-year-old passenger, was arrested the following day. Authorities recovered a bladed weapon believed to have been used during the robbery, a firearm with ammunition, and around five grams of suspected illegal drugs from his possession.
“Ang illegal activities nitong dalawang ito—drugs, carnapping of motorcycle, at holdap. Itong illegal activities na ‘yan, ‘yun talaga ang source ng income nila,” Pandi police officer-in-charge Lt. Col. Nelson Sardin said.
Investigators also suspect the two men were involved in other illegal activities, including drug-related offenses and motorcycle theft. These allegations are now part of the ongoing investigation.
After their arrest, the suspects apologized for their actions. Meanwhile, the victim was allowed to take time off from work after experiencing severe fear and stress following the incident.
The suspects are now facing robbery charges, while additional cases related to the recovered firearm and illegal drugs are also being prepared against one of them.
