Jessa Zaragoza Frustrated Over Daily Brownouts During Extreme Heat
JESSA ZARAGOZA – Amid rising temperatures across Luzon, Jessa Zaragoza shared her thoughts on the recurring power interruptions affecting many Filipino households.
Singer-actress Jessa Zaragoza expressed concern over the rotational brownouts being implemented across the Luzon grid amid the intense summer heat being experienced in many parts of the country.
In a recent social media post, Jessa shared her frustration regarding the recurring power interruptions that have affected numerous households, following announcements made by the Manila Electric Company or Meralco.

“So confirmed na ba na araw araw na talaga mamamatay ang kuryente natin sa ating mga tahanan?!” Jessa wrote on her Facebook post on Friday, May 15.
“Rotational brownout ng Meralco. Hanggang kailan?! Kung kailan napaka sukdulan ng init ang panahon. Hay…”
Her post quickly gained attention online and drew mixed reactions from netizens, particularly from consumers who are also experiencing rotational brownouts in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. Many agreed with the actress’s sentiments, pointing out the difficulty of enduring hours without electricity while temperatures continue to soar.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) previously announced that the Luzon grid had been placed under red and yellow alert status due to insufficient power supply. According to the agency, the situation was caused by forced outages and maintenance shutdowns involving several power plants, including facilities located in Bataan.
Because of the thinning power reserves, authorities implemented manual load dropping or rotational brownouts to prevent a larger and more widespread power outage across Luzon.
Meralco also confirmed that millions of customers in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Batangas, and other parts of Luzon were affected by the temporary power interruptions. The outages reportedly lasted between two and three hours in several areas.

The NGCP further explained that electricity demand has significantly increased because of the extreme heat, while some power plants remain non-operational. This combination has reduced the reserve power supply of the Luzon grid, prompting authorities to impose rotational power interruptions to stabilize the system.
As temperatures continue to rise, many residents have taken to social media to voice their concerns and frustrations over the recurring outages, echoing Jessa Zaragoza’s sentiments about the challenges brought by the brownouts during the hottest days of the year.
