Erwan Heussaff Calls Blind Political Loyalty a Major Red Flag
ERWAN HEUSSAFF – Chef and content creator Erwan Heussaff did not hold back when asked whether political beliefs are enough to end long-time friendships.
Erwan Heussaff openly shared his thoughts on politics and friendships, particularly when political beliefs begin to reflect a person’s moral values. The husband of Anne Curtis responded to a Thread post made by fellow content creator Zac Alviz, who asked whether long-time friendships should be discarded because of differing political beliefs.
“Political opinions, no. But if it crosses into moral territory, yes,” said Erwan.
Erwan Heussaff further explained his point by giving an example involving a person who appears generous yet has a troubling history.
“[Example] If someone was the most charitable person you knew, but was also a known sexual abuser. If you can tolerate that and support that person, it says a lot about one’s moral character,” Erwan said.
According to Erwan, politics should not only revolve around loyalty or admiration for public figures. For him, the way people defend politicians can also reveal how willing they are to think critically and evaluate their own principles.
He also described as a “red flag” those individuals who only speak positively about the politicians they support and refuse to acknowledge flaws or mistakes.
“We all know no one is perfect or even close to it, so If you can’t challenge your own beliefs, we can’t be friends,” said Erwan.
The celebrity chef emphasized the importance of practicing discernment, especially in today’s politically divided climate. He encouraged people not to become blinded by loyalty and instead continue questioning whether the leaders they support still reflect their personal values and beliefs.
“We should constantly practice discernment. Not blindly defend the people we support, but regularly question whether our choices still align with our values.”
Erwan’s statement surfaced following the tension that reportedly took place at the Senate on Wednesday evening, May 13, which sparked strong reactions and political discussions online.
