OP Approves Rescheduled Trips of VP Sara Duterte Following Travel Plan Changes

SARA DUTERTE – The rescheduled trips of the Vice President was given approval by the office of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Amid the impeachment moves against her, Vice Pres. Duterte was previously allowed to travel abroad by the Office of the President. Then, the Vice President’s overseas trips was reportedly set to run from April 23 to May 15.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said that Vice Pres. Duterte will be visiting Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Korea. The Vice President then immediately reacted to the announcement of the Palace.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said that the issuance of her travel authority by the office or Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is “last-minute” and she has already changed her plans. She also took swipe against the Office of the President for revealing details about her planned overseas trips.

“Ensuring the confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive documents would greatly contribute to maintaining effective security arrangements,” the Vice President who gave the OP a heads up that she will be making a new travel permit request stated in her statement.

Based on a post of GMA News, the officer of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos has recently approved the rescheduled trips of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The approval was confirmed by Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro.

Based on the post, the rescheduled trips of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will run from May 2 to May 15. Her travel comes amid the impeachment moves against her and the House Committee on Justice has recently found probable cause to impeach Duterte.

The Vice President is faced with two impeachment complaints. Here are some of the grounds raised against Duterte:

  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount over PHP 500 million confidential funds (CF) allocated to the Office of the Vice President from 2022 to 2023
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount of not less than PHP 112.5 million of confidential funds allocated to the Department of Education (DepEd) for the year 2023
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust by corrupting and bribing officials of the DepEd
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in contracting to murder or assassinate the president, the first lady, and the former speaker of the House
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in amassing unexplained wealth and failing to disclose all her properties and interests in properties in her SALN
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in committing acts of   political destabilization and the high crimes of sedition and insurrection

Following the unanimous vote of the House Justice panel which found probable cause to impeach the Vice President, the Duterte siblings have reacted to the matter. The youngest among the siblings, Kitty Duterte, stressed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is ‘not a thief and not dishonest’.
