DILG Chief Jonvic Remulla Speaks on Wanted Businessman Atong Ang
JONVIC REMULLA – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary expressed his belief that the PH authorities are “getting closer” to the arrest of Atong Ang.
Atong Ang remains at large. The families of the missing cockfighting enthusiasts remain calling for justice over the unexplained disappearance of their loved ones. The popular businessman is facing accusations and has a pending arrest warrant over the issue.

Previously, there were some individuals who accused Atong Ang of allegedly being behind the disappearance of the missing sabungeros. The witnesses were individuals who have previously worked for Ang.
The businessman denied the allegations and maintained his innocence. The claims of the witnesses has sparked the search operations in Taal Lake after one of them claimed that the bodies of the missing sabungeros were allegedly thrown at the said lake.

The witness who is reportedly considered a “whistleblower” also said that the cockfighting enthusiasts allegedly went through a lot before their bodies were thrown to the body of water. Former actress Gretchen Barretto who is close to Ang was also accused but the Department of Justice (DOJ) has already cleared Barretto.
A few days ago, DILG chief Jonvic Remulla claimed that Atong Ang was supposedly almost arrested. According to him, they received an information from a credible source about the businessman and they launched an operation for his arrest. However, he was no longer there when they arrived.

While there was no proof like a photo, Remulla asserts that the claim of the informant is trusted. He previously raised a reward of P10 million for any information that could lead to Ang’s arrest.
Recently, DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla expressed his belief that the Philippine authorities is near towards finding the whereabouts of Atong Ang. Based on News5, his remarks came after the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued a Red Notice against the businessman.
“Ang last eyeball sa kanya… was in CALABARZON. When we received the information, we subsequently raided the place. Maybe dalawang araw after, hindi naman siya naabutan. Pero it seems like we’re getting closer to him na aabutan siya,” Remulla expressed based on the post.

Recently, a wanted high-profile personality in the Philippines, Zaldy Co, was arrested and is now detained in Prague. DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla also spoke about the arrest of Zaldy Co.
