Young Boy Dies After Being Beaten Over Mango Incident
A young boy died after being struck with a piece of wood for allegedly stealing mangoes in Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte.
The child, identified as Tamtam Alegase, suffered severe injuries after being beaten inside a private compound.
Based on initial reports, the young boy entered a compound in Barangay Alegria to pick Indian mangoes from a tree. The owner of the property reportedly caught the child in the act and reacted with extreme anger.

Instead of letting the child go or calling for help, the suspect allegedly struck Tamtam multiple times using a thick piece of wood known as a ‘dos por dos’. The blows were said to be so strong that the child was left helpless and unable to escape. He later died due to the serious injuries he sustained.
The suspect reportedly claimed that the act was meant to serve as a lesson, saying he only wanted to make an example out of the child. This reasoning has caused outrage among residents, who could not accept how such violence could be inflicted on a young boy over a few pieces of fruit.
People are now calling for justice for Tamtam and demanding the highest penalty for the person responsible.
Authorities have already taken the suspect into custody. Investigations are ongoing as police gather more details and verify the identity of the individual involved. Officials are also working to ensure that proper charges will be filed.
The family of the young victim continues to mourn, hoping that justice will be served and that such a painful incident will never happen again.
