Dingdong Dantes talked about his career
Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes revealed that this moment made him realize that he should take acting seriously.
Dingdong is one of the most in-demand actors of his generation. Throughout the years, he has proven his versatility and star factor that cemented his status in the entertainment industry.
In a recent interview, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, Dingdong shared what pushed him to focus on his acting career.
The Kapuso actor said that it was the time when his family struggled financially. Prior to being an actor, Dingdong Dates was a member of the 90s dance group Abztract Dancers.
He shared that his parents really worked hard to send him and his four siblings to school. That was the pivotal moment for him to take his showbiz career seriously.
“I think that was when I realized that there is a greater reason why I was put there in the first place. Kasi, talagang nilalaro ko lang noon—pagsasayaw, nung nag-T.G.I.S. na ako hanggang sa Anna Karenina, ‘yung Sunday show naman. So parang feeling ko laro lang ‘to, and then nakikita ko sila seryoso,” the actor admitted.
However, upon seeing the struggles that his parents had in providing for him and his siblings, Dingdong realized that he had to do something.
“So sabi ko, parang may isang point na na-feel ko, at na-witness ko rin, na nahihirapan ‘yung parents ko na ipagpatuloy ‘yung pag-aaral ko. So dumating din ‘yung point na nag-iisip si Papa kung tutuloy pa ba natin dito, o lilipat natin siya,” he shared.
With this, he took the initiative, and he said he wanted to try. Since he already had a source of income, he told his parents that he would shoulder even just his educational expenses.
“So that was the point na sineryoso ko siya, kasi may mas malalim na akong dahilan. May mas malalim na objective kung bakit ako nandoon,” the husband of Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera said.
Dingdong added that his reason was not just for himself, as he also wanted to help his family. He also wanted to give back to his parents for all their sacrifices.
Then the actor learned to love and give value to his craft. With this, he exerted efforts to hone his craft and to know more about the field where he works.
After changing his perspective, that was also the time when he learned to love his work more, and he was able to gain a better understanding of the things around his profession.
