Previously, Filipino singer Matty Juniosa captured international attention after earning a golden buzzer from Simon Cowell in “Britain’s Got Talent.” His performance quickly went viral online, impressing the judges, the audience, and online viewers.
The golden buzzer was pressed after he delivered a standout performance that secured him a spot straight to the next stage of the competition. In his audition, he performed a rendition of Prince’s iconic song “Purple Rain.”
In an interview, he talked about the viral moment and expressed his gratitude and emphasized how proud he is to represent the Philippines on the global stage. He felt surreal with the experience, and it was a dream come true for him to receive such recognition from an international audience.
“I’m not gonna lie — I was hoping there’s gonna be a golden buzzer,” he said.
“When that golden buzzer was pressed, I was —Thank You Looord!!! If you noticed me, screaming with my arms out. I just wanted to take it all in,“ he narrated, and added, “How rare is this moment. I have been dreaming of it for years, since I was a child. All the hard work, all the effort that paid off and come to this moment.”
The singer’s journey on the show is still unfolding, but the golden moment has already put him in a position as a strong contender in the competition.
Meanwhile, Matty auditioned for The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 but did not make the cut. However, his fate was unfortunate in this show. He then joined Idol Philippines Season 1. He was also eliminated, but after his stint, he became part of iDolls, an all-male vocal trio formed by ABS-CBN along with fellow Idol Philippines contenders Lucas Garcia and Enzo Almario.
