In an interview, Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo revealed that he had already made plans to propose to his girlfriend of five years, Chloe San Jose. However, his past attempts did not push through. The proposal did not push through due to certain circumstances at the time.
According to the athlete, timing has played a key role in his decision. While he has the intention to propose to her, he ultimately chose not to go ahead with it because the attempts were always delayed by certain reasons. This also suggests that he wanted to be fully ready before making such a lifelong commitment.
“[In] 2023 triny ko po actually pero hindi ako talaga nakabili. Triny ko sa Japan bumili. Triny ko sa Singapore bumili pero ewan ko parang hindi sumasangayon ang mundo sa akin at that time,” he said in an interview with Boy Abunda.
Despite the cases of bad timing, he stressed that their relationship remains strong.
One of the reasons actually was the time when Chloe discovered the ring he reserved through an email notification. What happened was purely accidental, and as someone who has always been honest with him, she told him about it.
“So, of course I had to tell him because we are super open, and of course the surprise kasi mawawala. I don’t want to lie about it naman or act surprised kasi siyempre mawawala na ‘yung magic,” she expressed.
