Fire Damages Classroom at School Building in Davao City

A fire engulfs a school building in Davao City, damaging several classrooms and causing panic among students and staff. 

On Monday morning (March 23, 2026), a fire broke out inside Catalunan PequeƱo National High School. According to initial reports, the fire started at around 11 in the morning. It is believed to have begun inside a stock room where various school materials were stored. 

Recently, Myleen Barro Gulayan, a Facebook user, shared a video of a thick smoke and flames consuming part of the building. The post quickly circulated online and garnered various reactions from the online community.

School principal Ritchelle Armamento shared that students who were lining up for SK registration were the first to notice the heavy smoke coming from the room. Their early observation helped alert school officials right away. 

Teachers immediately took action and guided everyone on campus to evacuate in an orderly and calm manner. The quick response helped prevent injuries and ensured that all students and staff were brought to safety. 

Firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection arrived at the scene and worked to control the fire. Their efforts helped stop the flames from spreading further across the school. 

Thankfully, no one was reported hurt during the incident. However, several classrooms were damaged, which may affect school activities in the coming days. 

Authorities from the Davao City Fire District are still investigating the exact cause of the fire, as well as the total cost of the damage.
