Filipino Olympic gymnast Carlos Yulo has this to say when asked about his relationship with his siblings and parents.
Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo was surrounded by issues and controversies during his win due to his conflict with his family. Yulo’s conflict with his family included financial mismanagement, relationship disapproval, and other things that eventually escalated because it was publicly exposed.
What’s the status of his relationship with his family now? According to Yulo, based on a recent interview, he currently has a good relationship with his siblings, Eldrew and Elaiza.
His girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, was also with him in the interview and shared that she has always been the one to encourage him to fix his relationship with his family. She shared, “I have always been the one to encourage him na, ‘Mahal, if you don’t want to ano the other parts of your family, at least, your siblings.’”
Yulo, opening up about his family’s situation, shared that his relationship with his parents remains unresolved. Despite efforts to mend ties, Yulo admitted that he and his parents, Mark Andrew Yulo and Angelica Yulo, have yet to fully reconcile.
This was his response when he was asked a personal question about how he would assess himself as a son if faced with God’s judgment.
“Wala akong naramdaman na ganoon kahit yung times na nilagay nila ako sa ganoong sitwasyon, na hindi naman totoo at hindi naman namin ginawa. Napatawad ko po sila,” he said.
He also shared that if given the chance, he would still be open to being with his parents again. However, he acknowledged that reconciliation is a two-way process. What matters is that he tried his best to talk to them to fix everything, but what he has no control over is the result.
