Vilma Santos previously wanted to do one movie during her term as Batangas Governor
Star For All Seasons and incumbent Batangas Governor Vilma Santos said that she is prioritizing now her duty as government official over her planned movie project.
Vilma has been doing movies for several decades now. When she transitioned into public service, her acting career took a backseat. In recent years, she would do one or two movies if her schedule would allow it.
After being elected as the Governor of Batangas in the 2025 elections, she asked permission from her constituents if she could do just one movie within her one term.

In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment, Vilma Santos said she is setting aside her plan to do a movie to prioritize her duty as Batangas Governor.
After doing her movie Uninvited, which was part of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025, Ate Vi expressed that she hopes that she wanted to do a movie. However, this film projects has become less important to her right now.
“Yung sinabi ko sana in three years pinagkatiwalaan ako ng Batangeño—sana payagan ako gumawa kahit isa. Kaya lang at this point in time ang dami natin challenges. Medyo second o third priority na lang,” the actress-turned-politician said.
She said that her acting career is now taking a backseat. Her constituents is her priority right now. “The challenges we are facing now, I am the mother of Batangas, yun muna priority ko. Kailangan magabayan pangangailangan nila. yung ang first priority ko,” the Governor said.

On the other hand, she said that she will revisit her plans in the future. She is also thinking of doing another independent film, following her indie movie “Ekstra.” The first and only she ever did, as of now.
Vilma Santos shared that she told director Jeffrey Jeturian that her decades in the entertainment industry, this was the only indie film she did, so far.
The screening of “Ekstra” was recently held and it was led by The National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Film Development Council of the Philippines in line with the celebration of Women’s Month.
