Viral Photo of Mayor Leni Robredo Stepping Out of a Tricycle Sparks Buzz Online
LENI ROBREDO – Social media users were quick to react when a viral photo showed Leni Robredo stepping out of a tricycle while wearing a Filipiniana.
A candid photo of Leni Robredo riding a tricycle while wearing a Filipiniana recently circulated online and quickly sparked various reactions from netizens.
The photo, which spread on social media, was shared by a Facebook user named “Shr Dz.” According to the netizen, the image was a stolen shot taken on Robredo’s first day as mayor of Naga City.
Based on the details in the post, the netizen appeared to be working with the mayor at the time, as the story described a close encounter with Robredo during the incident.
The netizen explained that they ended up riding a tricycle because of a lack of available vehicles and a poor mobile signal that prevented them from contacting their drivers.
According to the account, the situation happened shortly after they had lunch at the JMR Museum, which currently serves as the mayor’s temporary office.
At around 12:30 p.m., Robredo was reportedly in a hurry to return home to change clothes before heading to city hall for her first day as mayor.
While exiting the building, the netizen said they tried to call their drivers but could not get through due to a weak phone signal. Instead of getting upset, Robredo supposedly remained calm and simply suggested riding a tricycle since her house was nearby.
“Ok, mag-tricycle na lang tayo at malapit lang naman sa bahay,” the mayor reportedly said.
The netizen further shared that Robredo herself hailed the tricycle and rode along with two close-in staff members. During the ride, the driver reportedly chatted with the mayor without realizing who his passenger was.
It was only when they reached their destination that the driver supposedly realized he had been transporting Robredo. The netizen also clarified that they paid the driver the proper fare.
According to the post’s author, the purpose of sharing the story was to show that riding different modes of transportation is not a big deal for Robredo, whether it be a bus, scooter, tricycle, boat, or pedicab.
“Isa ako sa makapagpapatunay na hindi big deal sa kaniya ang sumakay sa kahit anong klaseng sasakyan,” the netizen said.
Toward the end of the post, the author also addressed people allegedly spreading misinformation about the mayor and urged others to avoid circulating fake news.
“Kaya sa mga kumukontra at nagkakalat ng fake news, bahala kau jan. Masasabi ko na lang, nakaka-pangit po pag bitter,” the netizen added.
The post concluded with a congratulatory message for Robredo along with the hashtags #LeniRobredo and #MayorLeniRobredo, while also tagging the account “Leni Gerona Robredo.”
Soon after it was posted, the story quickly went viral, especially as discussions about Robredo previously riding a bus had also been trending among netizens.
