Charo Santos Calls for Respect & Safe Spaces for Women This Women’s Month
CHARO SANTOS – As the world celebrates Women’s Month, Charo Santos delivered a powerful reminder about the importance of listening to and valuing women’s voices.
Veteran actress and media executive Charo Santos took to social media to deliver a meaningful message for women as the world marked International Women’s Day. In her post, the respected television personality called for greater respect, dignity, and understanding toward women, emphasizing that their voices and experiences deserve to be heard and valued.
In an Instagram message shared on Monday, Santos reflected on how public discussions and strong opinions can sometimes overshadow the importance of treating people with kindness. She reminded everyone that despite the noise created by debates, headlines, and emotions, a simple principle should remain constant: women must always be treated with respect.

“There are moments when the noise around us grows louder — opinions, headlines, emotions. In times like these, I find myself returning to a simple truth: every woman deserves to be heard with dignity, spoken to with RESPECT, and treated with kindness. This is why a message as simple as ‘Bawal Bastos, Please.’ still matters. Respect should never be optional. It should be the standard,” she wrote.
Santos highlighted that women fulfill many responsibilities in life, often balancing different roles within their families, careers, and communities. However, she stressed that beyond these titles lies a deeper connection that unites all people, shared humanity.
“Women carry many roles in this world — daughter, mother, leader, worker, dreamer. But beyond these titles is something even more important: our shared humanity. Our voices, our stories, and our experiences matter. This Women’s Month reminds us that strength does not always shout. Sometimes it stands quietly, but firmly, for what is right. It uplifts rather than tears down. It listens as much as it speaks,” Santos said.

The actress, who currently appears in the hit series Batang Quiapo, also encouraged people to help build environments where women feel safe, supported, and empowered to express themselves freely.
“May we continue to create spaces where women feel safe, valued, and empowered to stand in their truth. To all women: your voice matters. Your dignity matters,” she added.
Santos remains one of the most respected figures in Philippine entertainment. Aside from her long and successful acting career, she is widely recognized for her leadership as the former president and chief executive officer of ABS-CBN. Over the years, she has also been vocal about social issues, using her platform to promote respect, equality, and compassion.
